Good Evening friends, Today at work they sat me down at 4pm to explain my role will be eliminated as of October 15. I'm gracious for the organization I have loved and served for 7.5 years giving me some time to make ends meet. That being said, if you have ANY leads for jobs I'm open. I've served primarily as an executive assistant but am open to new experience. I have a MA in Sociology and Women's Studies. I'm happy to share my resume, you can email me at marissafuqua1@gmail.com -- God is good ALL the time.
Please send me your resume. I work for a franchise organization that employs several executive assistants. We have offices in Dallas and Waco. The name of our company is Neighborly, if you want to do some research first. My email address is Doug.rogers@ neighborly.com.
@Dougr you are an angel. I sent my resume and blessed with the mere hope of some day serving alongside you.
Ooops @Dougr the email bounced back?
Look me up on LinkedIn. Maybe my network of contacts can help you. Cheryl Schwitzgebel
@FooTurtle Excellent, I sure appreciate it!!! I need to work on my LinkedIn and utilize it more for its full potential.
    • Smack Sept 14, 2020
Wow! As a team, We've made it and now are on our second loop. How strange, the group is going to Pass me as I am only on mile 46. But oh my goodness at mile 46 I am enjoying Harding Lake state recreation area. It's beautiful. I took a dip in the lake and they say the water is 42°, however, In my "condition" C-4 incomplete, I couldn't feel a thing. Good thing though, because at 42° with the water around waist level it'll take your breath away, Plus some, if you know what I mean. Good thing I have a support crew to help me get on and off my bike. Lynn, you're just behind me so do take a stop and have a swim. I'll wait for you at mile 60. I see that GS "Henny Is in front of me and Will stop also have Mile 60, The birch Lake state recreation site for a vanilla milkshake. Personally, I am going to order a coffee milkshake. Be well and keep truckin'… A little Allman Brothers for those that remember. SMack
      I LOVE This!!! Awesome.
Smack, I don't think I know you, but if you mention me, milkshakes and the Allman Brothers in the same sentence, I like you! Rock on!
Hello GS. No, and I don't think I know you either, however we should meet someday. So you're the guy who was with Mike in 1985! What a great feat and story. Take the credit for teaming up with Mike For one of the most fantastic athletic Accomplishments of all times. Manheim PA? Oh my goodness. I contacted a bike shop in Lancaster PA to get my AFO braces and other adaptive biking equipment for my recumbent trike. You know us quads have sloppy legs that flop all over the place. You gotta have braces to keep those bad boys in check. Mike Directed me to the bike shop in Lancaster. And then my daughter went to Dickinson College in Carlisle, just up the street from you. I also have A brother in law that lives in Johnstown. Anyway, keep pushing the lawnmower and earning Those miles. See you at the finish line. @Henny
Johnstown, Carlisle, Lancaster...yup, you're getting closer! Let me know if you're in the area sometime, we'll have a shake together!

Thought I would share a thought a with the group. For those of you that deal with some type of chronic pain as I do. I find that my mind is pretty simple. It can only handle one pain at a time. The chronic pain I have, constant burning in my lower extremities below my spinal cord injury, really doesn’t produce much good. No one likes to hear about it, it can lead to depression and self-pity. I have little control over it as well. When I exercise, force my self to move, that too brings pain. Sore arms, exhaustion etc. However, because my mind is simple, it causes the other pain to be forgotten. Also, this pain brings many positives. I feel better about myself; it brings a feeling of accomplishment instead of despair. Best of all, at least I control it. All this to make one simple point. There is a lot of good that happens for some of us when we exchange one pain for another. Powered To Move helps us discover ways to control our lives and our well-being. It gives us power in many ways.
      Such great perspective
Incredible insight! Thank you for sharing. XOXO
so well put...thank you for these parting words of wisdom. They will, I hope, ring in my ears as I bemoan getting my behind moving to do my next workout. Thank you.
I couldn't agree more! Roll on!

Hey @Dougr. At the top of the menu you will see Fundraising. You can choose to "back a racer" and pick yourself and it will allow you to make a donation. We try not to bombard y'all with emails, so announcing this next week, but we have just secured a $15,000 matching gift. Anything given will go towards the match. Thanks so much...we appreciate you.

Hey all. If you haven’t done so, I for one would love to see your picture and read your bio. Funny, but it is harder to relate to just to initials. I know it’s a little work, but please know you are helping others connect when you take the time to do so. Thanks!

Does anyone know how many mile I need to go to see "get past" the menu on the map and see my Avatar? (I'm thinking that could be a good goal)
      4
You can zoom in and move the map around. If im understanding your question. :)
Without zooming or moving the map, I think I'll need to do about 300 miles to "get past" the menu and appear in the Yukon Territory. 17 or 18 miles a day....hmmm :-)
@Henny no worries...that's why we have to uber team icon that adds all our mileage together. We are all about the team, but it is fun to see where we are individually. I'm thinking I won't hit 300 miles either by myself.
Mike said you need to be a Motorman (like on those progressive commercials- half man, half motorcycle 🏍🏍
    • Powered2Move Aug 31, 2020
Hi Everyone! Wanna see how we are doing as a group towards the finish line? Check out the orange PM Avatar on the race route. It shows all our miles together. Then you can also find your individual avatars along the route to see how you stack up individually. I'm a proud back of the pack girl! #movewhatyoucan

Oh no! PJ please don't Dropout. I myself am in violation due to my power wheelchair. Even though in violation, I did try to rationalize that by having my wife walk with me she was part of the "move it" movement. So I logged those miles. I came clean and now I await approval and forgiveness from the race committee. I don't know, with someone called sharking making the call it doesn't look good. On another note, read my other message concerning my wheelchair. Again asking for grace. What's a quadriplegic to do? The well and enjoy. :)
Hey Stephen, its Sharyn from Powered To Move. No problem at all using your power chair. I will add it as an activity right now. And PJ is doing great too! Thanks for logging those miles for us!

Looking at the map, it shows each racer Independently, as if we are racing against each other. Is there a "moniker" that shows us as a team, that aggregates all our miles with the goal of 5601.1 miles? That would mean each day we as a team need to contribute 267 miles.
      1
We have a glitch with the map. Racery is working on it so we are one big team as intended. Stay tuned.
    • Smack Aug 30, 2020
I just noticed that I log my miles under walking versus biking or using a wheelchair. Is there any way to go back and Change this? Thanks.
      1
You can delete the activity and reenter it. Look for the round “gear” symbol in the upper right corner. If you click on that you will have the option to delete. When you enter it again, you can change the date because it will default to today. let me know of you need anything else.
    • Powered2Move Aug 29, 2020
Hi everyone! Sharyn from Powered to Move here. Just wanted to let you know there is now an option to choose Handcycling in Miles and Biking in Miles when choosing activities. If you were shorted miles yesterday, feel free to add the balance. Also - you are allowed to add activity more than once a day...some of you have asked about that. Keep moving and let us know if you need anything.
    • AngelPJ Aug 29, 2020
Ok we will continue because he does stay active

Looks like we may drop out; PJ is very active (including an adapted Ironman one year) but doesn’t physically walk, bike, etc. He was pushed around the lake today in his wheelchair but doesn’t push his own chair.
      1
Hi there...Its Sharyn from Powered to Move. That is just fine if he is pushed by his care provider. He is not required to push himself. We say participation looks different for everyone. We love that he is in the challenge and so active.

Anybody know how to enter actual miles vs hours? I rode 10 miles today but only got credit for 6.
      4
Hi there. It's Sharyn. When you enter your mile - like for handcycling, click the drop down menu where it says minutes and choose miles. To correct today just add 4 more miles. Let me know if you have any other issues.
Hi @Sharking - I tried that drop down. For some reason, the only activity that allows me to select miles is running/walking. Handcycling and bicycle only allows hours/minutes. This is from my iPhone — maybe I should try my laptop.
@Sharking -- I tried from computer. Same issue. Not sure why it's doing this. It's obviously working for others.
I'm checking with Racery about this. I see what you are saying.
    • HaleyB Aug 28, 2020
Will be logging my steps all day...this looks like it'll be so much fun.

My son Matt Evatt does not have an email. He is actually racing, just under my email. Can we change name from Julie to Matt? Bib number 23.
      2
Hi Julie - are you asking if the virtual bib can be changed to his name?
Let me check with Racery and I'll get back with ya!
    • John Aug 6, 2020

This is an all-inclusive fitness challenge to encourage people with disabilities and their able-bodied friends to MOVE! All workouts apply - walk/run/roll - bike, handcycle, wheelchair/workout/golf/Yoga, etc, etc, etc!

Your registration includes a cool Powered to Move race gaiter (can be worn as a facemask, headband, skull cap and more) and wristband.

Exercise anywhere you want. Then log activity and see your minutes, moves or miles as they are added with others and we collectively move along the 5600 race route that Powered to Move Founder, Mike King pushed in his wheelchair 35 years ago. We will have giveaways throughout the 21 Days and a $500 cash prize drawing for from those who log activity every day.

Along the route, you will learn more about Powered to Move athletes and programs as you pass certain mileage markers.

Want to see how you stack up against others - check out the leaderboard for individual totals.

We've got racers from all over the US! So to keep everyone on the same page, we've come up with some handy guidelines:

    1. We rely on the honor system... you don't have to use a device to prove your miles.
    2. Only exercising miles please! (NOTE: miles on a racer's personal log are for all races they are in, across all sports)
    3. Please attribute your activity to the appropriate day -- don't combine workouts from multiple days.
    4. Please only backdate logs for a race up to two weeks in the past.
    5. Activities submitted after the race ends will not count toward race leaderboards.
